Do:
- Take a break from tight lacing if you are feeling sick. The last thing you want to do is put your
body through any extra strain while it’s trying to fight a virus.
- Wear a corset liner EVERY TIME. This will vastly extend the wear of your corset and prevent
you from having to get it dry cleaned every time you wear it.
- Be patient. Waist training takes time and waist reduction is a gradual process.
- Listen to your body. If you feel pain or numbness, you need to loosen your laces. Only tie your
corset as tight as your body can handle.
- Have a nice big poop before you out on your corset if you can. Trust me.
- Cycle your corset lacings. This means wear them tighter when you feel comfortable and let
them out when it’s necessary; i.e. after you eat, if you feel bloated, etc.
- Exfoliate and moisturize! Corsets don’t breathe and they don’t move across your skin like other,
less fitted garments. If you exfoliate regularly and moisturize before you wear your corset, you‘ll
skin will thank you for it.
- Drink lots of water. The more your body cycles liquids through your body (i.e. the more you pee) the less likely you are to retain water which means less bloating.
-Take your corset off if you feel heartburn after you eat. Let it dissipate and then put it back on once you’re comfortable.
Don’t:
- Put your corset in the washing machine or let it soak in water. Any metal components will rust and you risk twisting it out of shape.
- Eat a giant meal in one go. Smaller portion sizes more often will allow your body to digest more comfortably.
- Ignore pain or chafing. If you feel and pinching or if you feel your corset liner bunching under your corset, take a sec and fix the problem. This might mean actually taking off your corset and
readjusting. JUST DO IT!
- Tie your corset so tight you begin to feel discomfort. There’s no point.
- Wear someone else’s corset. Chances are, it’s broken in to their body and if you wear it, you’ll distort it. When your friend gets their corset back, it won’t feel as comfortable, and then you'll have a grumpy friend. Metal boned corsets are one-person garments.
